Meet Frances

In the Beginning...

On March 5, 2000, Frances J. Heugle passed after valiantly battling colon cancer. She was 65 years old and left a legacy of devotion and love for her children and numerous children in her community. Throughout her life, children were a priority as she held numerous leadership roles in many organizations which focused on the health, happiness, and welfare of children. She had a smile and a hug for every child she met, and every child who met her happily gave a smile and hug in return.

In June 2000, Frances’ family and friends raised $80,000 in her honor which was donated to the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life. This effort became an annual tradition for 4 years from 2000 to 2003; gifting $300,000 toward bringing smiles to kids fighting cancer. In 2004, a decision was made to formally create a non-profit organization to directly bring smiles to kids fighting cancer and financial assistance to their struggling families. On July 26, 2004, Frances’ birthdate, a Certificate of Incorporation was filed with the NJ Secretary of State by The Frances Foundation For Kids Fighting Cancer, Inc, and soon thereafter, The Frances Foundation (TFF) became a fully approved 501c3 bringing joy and comfort to kids and families living through their worst nightmares.

The compassionate giving of smiles, joy, and comfort to pediatric cancer warriors and their families is TFF’s core mission . Specifically, TFF activities include:

  • Treats young warriors & their families to exciting , fun-filled trips & excursions  ( e, g,, Disney World, Bermuda, Amusement Parks)

  • Hosts annual Holiday Party, Summer BBQ/Picnic, Sports Events,  Funfests, and an awesome GALA FOR OUR VIP WARRIORS

  • Pays stressful burdensome bills, including rent, mortgage, insurance, utility , transportation, uninsured medical

  • Brings smiles to the kids with VIP limos, dinners, shows, & concerts

  • Mother’s Day Flowers to “momcologists” and Father’s Day gifts to dads

  • Financial support for pediatric cancer research

During the last 20+ years, TFF has gifted more than $4.8 million to hundreds of kids fighting cancer and their families. As a 100% volunteer charity, every dollar donated to TFF goes directly to our pediatric cancer warriors and their families. This is possible due to the generosity of our trustees who cover all TFF’s administrative expenses.
