Smiles for Warrior Xander & Family

On last Saturday the FF sponsored a family celebration in honor of our 2 ½ y/o warrior Xander.

Please recall that Xander was discharged from the hospital earlier last week to hospice.

Xander’ s family gathered in Robbinsville to enjoy a day of smiles, laughs, & tears, a special day creating everlasting memories.

Visits were made by the NFL Philadelphia Eagles mascot “Swoop, 2 Eagles cheerleader, Mickey Mouse, Elmo, fire trucks, balloons galore, with lots to eat & drink.

The FF arranged for a photographer who took a gazillion photos for an album for the family---just a few of the photos are attached.

Thank you for all that you do for our warriors and their families.

Please keep Xander and his family in your prayers.

Wishing a great weekend  to all,

Sincerely, Bob & The FF

We thank all who gave such positive and complimentary reviews of this program.

https://youtu.be/hm8jeRUwiLU

Please join me in thanking all who made our virtual gala an extraordinary event; especially trustee Keia Rubman and her family. Most importantly, although remotely, we were still together, connected as a family, honoring our pediatric cancer warriors and angels.

The videos shown during the gala highlight the smiles, happiness, and comfort  you helped us bring to our pediatric cancer families throughout the year.

As a fundraiser, the virtual gala was a smashing success because of your generosity . The event raised an incredible total of $207,300.00 ; broken down as follows:

Super 50/50 Cash Raffle : $67,500

Donations During the Gala : $16, 765

Silent Auction : $11,955

Sponsorships & Misc. Donations : $ 111,080

In the couple of weeks since our gala, your donations have enabled the FF to a host a memorable and special family gathering for our 3 y/o warrior Xander who was discharged last week from CHOP to hospice, pay mortgage & rent bills, contributed to the purchase of a vehicle for a family to visit their child in the hospital, and more. Thank you !!

God Bless you for being wonderful members of our Frances Family.

WARRIOR MCKENZY & HEALTHCARE ISSUES
Hello All:
Asbury Park Press reporter Jerry Carino has written a compassionate story highlighting our warrior McKenzy's prolonged fight, and the insurance issues that confront all of our warriors' families.
These difficult issues may very well be substantially exacerbated if the US Supreme  Court voids Obamacare.
Here is the link to Jerry's article which is in today's Asbury Park Press.

A Special Message from Coach Wright (Mens Basketball Coach @ Villanova University

Good Morning.

Villanova University basketball coach Jay Wright is 1 of the most prestigious , well-respected, and successful coaches in collegiate sports.

His teams are annual powerhouses , and under his tutelage , Villanova won NCAA National Championships in 2016 and 2018, and had a good chance last year before the pandemic cancelled the March Madness tournament.

Even more important to Coach Wright than winning championships, is tutoring his players to be great men to do great things with their lives outside of basketball.

Coach Wright videotaped this special message that will be played during our October 17,2020 virtual gala.

ZOOM Trustees' Meeting has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 23rd

Dear All :

I am reluctant to do this but I really have no choice----due to an unusually high number of trustees unable to participate in tomorrow night’s trustees’ zoom meeting; I am rescheduling it for next Wednesday, September 23,2020, at 7 pm.

Please let me know by this Friday whether you can join this meeting. Hopefully this postponement results in more trustees being able to participate in the meeting.

We are 10 days into our super 50/50 cash raffle ticket sales . To date 5 of our trustees, or about 10 % of all of our trustees, have either bought or sold raffle tickets.

I attach the cash 50/50 raffle flyer, the order form , and a sample ticket, to help you in your efforts to sell tickets. Again, please share these flyers and info on your social media.

Good luck in selling the tickets.

I hope a vast majority of you can participate in next week’s meeting; and please advise me of any matter you would like to have placed on our agenda.

He always had the best interests of the kids in his heart and in  his actions.

Pops was an original FF trustee and has been with us since our start in 2004. Kids have always been his #1 priority.

FF Updates and Upcoming ZOOM Trustees' Meeting

Dear Trustees :

Unfortunately our usual spring and late summer semi-annual all trustees’ meetings have been a victim of the pandemic.

I was unrealistically waiting for the circumstances to get a lot better so that we could have a more normal in-person meeting; but that is not yet the case.

I have been doing my best trying to keep you apprised of our FF activities and news. Currently a # of trustees are working  feverishly planning our OCTOBER 17TH virtual gala.

More on this event later but we will be asking all trustees to sell as many raffle tickets as possible. Some charities require each trustee to sell a minimum # of tickets. We will not formally require each trustee to sell a minimum # of tickets ; but we do ask that every trustee makes a serious effort to sell as many tickets as possible. I will be sending out the raffle info tomorrow or Friday.

We have no choice but to schedule a virtual zoom trustees’ meeting. This meeting will be held on:

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH AT 7 PM.

An agenda and a zoom meeting invite will be sent out on the Monday before the meeting.

Please advise me by next week whether you will be joining this meeting; as well as any agenda item you would like to see placed on our agenda.

Thank you for all that you do for our pediatric cancer kids and their families.

Wishing you an enjoyable Labor Day holiday weekend.

PS: please share the attached SAVE THE DATE for our 10/17 gala with your families, friends, neighbors, work colleagues and share on your social media. PLEASE

Frances Foundation: Summertime Fun
The FF has been assisting our warrior Brody P. from Manahawkin for a number of years thru really tough times.
Brody is now receiving specialized treatment in St. Louis. Despite all that the family has going on, they somehow did a couple of fundraisers to give back to the organizations helping them.
This week the FF received a $500 donation from Brody's Crew---see attached card.  This is something special.

In the middle of this past week the FF mailed out about 50 SUMMERTIME SMILES checks ( totaling about 10k) ) to our treating warriors who did not have the benefit of attending and receiving our usual summertime SMILES gifts at our annual picnic & softball tournament. Here are just a couple of the received thank yous.

Thank You from Warrior Mert's Mom :
To The Frances foundation and everyone:  thank you so much for your generous gift. Specially these days we are all stuck home..
You made us very happy. Thank you so so much. God bless you all .

Thank you once again for bringing smiles to Joseph’s face.  I didn’t realize how small our summer savings would be due to me not teaching last year.
We cannot thank you enough.  Joseph, Joe & Julie K.

What better way to start a weekend than with a huge awesome smile from our warrior Joseph K. !!

Subject:CANCELLED OCTOBER 17,2020 16TH ANUAL FF GALA.... BUT DO WE GO VIRTUAL ??
Cancelled: Frances Foundation Gala (October, 17, 2020): BUT do we go Virtual?

PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE ENTIRE EMAIL.THANK YOU!!

To All FF Trustees and Super FF Supporters :

Based on just about unanimous consent from the FF Gala Committee , the FF Executive Committee, & trustees who submitted replies; we are canceling our  in- person 16th annual gala  scheduled to be held on Saturday October  17, 2020. Under all of the circumstances, this is the absolute right decision for many compelling reasons..

However, we are seeing many local charities continue to fundraise to support their missions thru golf tournaments, outdoor cocktail  receptions, & holding virtual fundraising galas, with significant success.

In order to sustain our FF mission thru the fall and into next year, it is imperative that the FF undertake some degree of major fundraising during this fall to replace the substantial net revenue we usually raise at our regular gala. One of the ideas suggested by many is a virtual gala. Although it would be challenging because of our lack of experience and knowledge in organizing such an event, I believe we have the capability of putting together an “ entertaining” fun-filled  fundraising virtual gala event on the same night as our previously scheduled gala-SATURDAY OCTOBER 17TH.  However, it would take a bona fide team effort; with the assistance of some tech wizards( either in-house or paid consultants ). For example, setting up virtual event links to the selected platform.

Some ideas that I have and ideas that have been shared with me for a virtual gala include: (1)  video clips of some of our warriors and their brief messages, (2) brief words from a supporting celebrity, sports or otherwise( live or tape  ; (3) a comedian ( live or tape); (4)  a magician ( live or tape); (5) a mega super 50/50 cash raffle drawing ( live)—pre-sell tickets ; (6) a virtual silent auction; (7) a virtual journal of major  sponsors of the FF & Virtual   Gala/ virtual gal sponsorship levels; …….If we do this kind of virtual gala, as our 16th gala, we would need to address a # of questions, including where  and how to send invites, & solicit support in all forms for the virtual gala .

The pandemic has not stopped our kids from getting & fighting their cancers. 2 of our warriors, McKenzy & Xander, are in particular tough on-going battles. I sent applications for financial assistance to 3 new warriors’ families this week. The FF paid numerous bills on behalf of our families over the last couple of weeks. Our commitment to our FF mission is being challenged; but whether it is a virtual gala , or something less, this fall we need to solicit financial support from those able to give. Our recent raffle showed that many are willing and able to give to the FF during this pandemic. Other charities are showing that their supporters are still giving.

If you are computer tech savvy, and/OR you  have ideas or suggestions  for a virtual gala , and/OR  you are willing to work on helping to lead efforts for a virtual gala or related fundraising , YOU ARE INVITED to attend a meeting to discuss and hopefully come up with a specific  plan  for a virtual gala and/or fall fundraising . THIS MEETING WILL BE HELD 1 WEEK FROM TODAY, ON MY BACK DECK, 8 BRYCE ROAD, HOLMDEL 07733, STARTING AT 6:30 PM. PIZZA & BEVERAGES WILL BE PROVIDED---WEAR YOUR SUIT AND BRING A TOWEL IF YOU WANT TO JUMP IN THE POOL DURING OR AFTER THE MEETING. We will need all of the help ( volunteers )  we can get.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EMAIL TO ME ANY THOUGHTS OR SUGGESTIONS AT ANY TIME. If you can , research virtual galas, ask around, try to obtain the pros and cons, what to do and what to avoid.

By this Monday the 13th please let me know if you will be attending….we need as much help with this endeavor as possible

Thx, Bob

FF Update.....

In yesterday’s mail, our face painting specialist and super supporter Debbie DeFazio made a $600 donation to the FF ( ½ of her stimulus check with the other half going to another deserving charity).

This is an extraordinary generous gesture by Debbie. Join me in thanking Debbie.

The FF sent Father’s Day best wishes and gifts to our pediatric cancer dads. Attached is an especially thoughtful thank you card we received from 1 of our warrior’s dads.

In case you can’t read it –It says :

“Dear Frances Foundation :

“BLOWN AWAY by your acts of kindness and consideration, for ALL families going through treatment. Your organization is the reason for organizations, not only fulfilling a purpose, finding ways to do more.

Grateful ! Appreciative ! Overwhelmed ! Didn’t know you even know I exist. touched ! Thank You ! ( a pediatric cancer warrior’s dad) Sid Becker

Those are inspiring words .

I am proud to be an American ; and proud to be a part of the Frances Foundation Family with you.

Wishing you and your families a Happy & Safe 4th of July.

FF 50/505 Cash Raffle and October 17th FF Gall Update
Good Afternoon :

TWO QUICK ITEMS :

1. Our super 50/50 cash raffle was very successful. We sold out all 300 raffle tickets 1 week before the drawing,  with only about 50 % participation from our trustees. The raffle netted the FF approximately $19,000.00; which includes 50% of the $30,000.00 total pot, donations made by the 3 winners, miscellaneous donations, minus costs. Special thanks to trustees Mark Zelina, Chris & Melissa Heugle, Chuck Ciccarelli , Liberato DeCicco, & The Rubman family, for their extraordinary efforts and contributions to the raffle----and especially to my high school classmate Steve Tobia, Essex Catholic High School Class of '71,  for his outstanding generosity !!

2. Within the next week or so, due to Ocean Place Resort contract deposit requirements ( 30k due in July ) , we need to make a decision as to whether or not we will try to proceed as usual with plans to hold our 16th annual gala on October 17, 2020.
The question is whether or not it would be appropriate , safe, prudent, and/or realistic to try to hold our USUAL gala in the most likely absence of a vaccine for the covid-virus. Keep in mind that we have always maintained that our gala is about the warriors .
In the alternative, do we adjust to the circumstances and try to make plans for the best virtual gala possible ( e. g. , video messages from the warriors, a comedian, a magician, music & virtual dancing, on line auction items, a mega bucks super 50/50 cash raffle selling 1,000  tickets) ???  AS TO THIS ITEM # 2 QUESTION , PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR THOUGHTS TO ME BY THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON----I WILL SHARE ALL FEEDBACK WITH THE GALA CO-CHAIRS AND OUR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE WHO WILL MAKE A PROMPT FINAL DECISION.

A photo of our warrior Xander is attached. He is going thru yet another round of chemo. Please keep Xander & all of our warriors in your prayers.

No words are necessary—THE SMILES TELL THE STORY !

Bob,

Thanks again sooo much for everything you and your sister organizations did to help us get this scooter for Maddy.  It truly has been life changing for her.  She can now not only join us for "walks" and bike rides, but is able to reach nature again.  Please enjoy this video of her riding around one of her favorite local lakes.  Sorry about the quality -the file is too big to email and Google Drive seems to be distorting it a bit!

THE FRANCES FOUNDATION FOR KIDS FIGHTING CANCER

A beautiful boy is on his way to Heaven

Tragically, our fun loving 11 y/o warrior Will earned his angel’s wings yesterday.

Will was 1st diagnosed with cancer when he was 3 y/o in July 2012. He bravely fought through multiple relapses; and he was a courageous Frances Foundation warrior for the past 6+ years.

The FF was blessed with Will’s endless smiles and laughter. The FF was honored to bring joy and happiness to Will thru numerous events : excursions to Florida & Disney World , a KCO cruise to Bermuda, galas, picnics, holiday parties, a VIP pass into the NY Giants locker room and onto the Met Life Stadium field for a Giants game, meeting with Giants OJ Beckham , attending the Big Blue MVP Tailgate party and meeting many Giants & Knicks  stars including Super Bowl MVP OJ Anderson, IPlay America fun, a fishing trip, and this past January Will had a blast at a Villanova basketball game in Philly where in his Wildcat shirt he met and was blessed by Villanova President Father Peter Donahue. Attached are a few photos of Will’s great smiles.

Join me in prayer for Will, his mom Kara, his dad Vincent , and their family and friends.

Will endeared himself to the FF ; and he was a cherished loved member of our Frances Family.

Will, a very special angel,  will never be forgotten; and he will always be an inspiration to our mission.

CASH RAFFLE TO BRING SMILES & ASSISTANCE TO KIDS WITH CANCER

Dear Friends of The Frances Foundation For Kids Fighting Cancer:

These are challenging times for all of us. We are adapting to a new normal as we are finding new ways to reach out and keep in touch with family, friends and neighbors. No one should feel alone or forgotten during this pandemic, least of all our kids fighting cancer.

The pandemic cancelled numerous activities and events; but it did not prevent children from being diagnosed with cancer, or diminish their need for critical financial assistance. In fact, the health and economic crisis is bringing an even greater level of hardship to many of our children and families.

Although the Frances Foundation suspended all fundraising activities for the last 2+ months, it has maintained its mission throughout bringing smiles and financial relief to numerous pediatric cancer families.

Last week the Frances Foundation gifted financial assistance to 2 pediatric cancer families just so they could purchase food. This week we are sending flowers to 106 pediatric cancer moms in honor of Mother’s Day.

To help sustain our compassionate mission we are sponsoring a SUPER 50/50 CASH RAFFLE :

     * DRAWING will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 4 pm.

Happy Mother's Day from the Frances Foundation

To All Moms :

It takes a big heart to be a hero. We salute, respect and honor our heroes who dedicate their lives to protect and care for us –our veterans , our military, our law enforcement officers, our firefighters, our EMTs, our medical providers and health care employees,

our teachers, our clergy, our charity volunteers,  our coaches, and many more.  There is no higher calling than service to others.

The values that inspire our heroes are instilled in great measure by our very first super heroes, you, our moms. Care-giving is your specialty.

On Sunday, and every day, we sincerely thank you for your love, for making each of us a better person, and for making our world a better place.

Hugs,

The Frances Foundation For Kids Fighting Cancer

A Message from the Frances Foundation
To Our Frances Foundation Family :

With genuine care, concern and compassionate, we reach out to you and your families.
Please know that we are praying for the health and welfare of our entire Frances Foundation family, including all of our friends and supporters, as well as for our entire community and country.

The Frances Foundation has ceased all fundraising events during this health and economic crisis. It would be most inappropriate to do otherwise.

However, the Frances Foundation is maintaining its solemn, steadfast commitment to our treating pediatric cancer warriors and their families. The COVid virus outbreak is a serious crisis; but that has not stopped cancers from attacking our children.
Throughout these unimaginable days, The Frances Foundation will continue to provide financial assistance to our pediatric cancer families in dire need, to the best of our capabilities.

Staying unified, staying positive, doing the right thing, doing our best, caring for others, ----we will get through this.

Please continue to pray  for our warriors, who continue their daily fights for their lives.

Staying unified, staying positive, doing the right thing, doing our best, caring for others, ----we will get through this.

Please continue to pray  for our warriors, who continue their daily fights for their lives.

Sincerely, Bob & The FF

MAY 9TH "FOUR OF A KIND"  CASINO NIGHT POSTPONED !

To All Frances Foundation Friends & Supporters :

Unfortunately the coronavirus health crisis is impacting all of us in many ways.

Regardless of what is being stated by politicians, health experts at the CDC have issued strong advice to refrain from attending “large gatherings.”  The CDC has also issued statements that this situation is going to get worse before it gets better.

In view of the foregoing, there is no other reasonable option other than to postpone our May 9th Casino Night.

We apologize for any inconvenience; but it would be irresponsible for us to risk the health of our supporters by going forward with this event on May 9th. Safety and good health have to be priority #1.

The good news is that we are already discussing a new date for our Casino Night with the Ocean Place Resort and our vendors.

We are embracing this opportunity to make our Casino Night even more spectacular & amazing.

For supporters who have already purchased  tickets; we will work on giving you a credit toward the new date or a refund.

Our annual FF picnic and softball tournament will be held on Saturday, July 25th. More details coming soon.

Please also mark your calendars for our 16th ANNUAL GALA on Saturday, October 17th !! Thank you for your understanding; and thank you for your generous support of our kids fighting cancer .

Sincerely, Bob & The FF

THANK YOU FROM WARRIOR GIA'S FAMILY:

Mr. Heugle, not sure if you remember me , my name is Mike M. and we met awhile back at star tavern around Christmas time . I wanted to thank you for the invitation to the Iplay event . Both Gia and my little one Rylie had a blast . It truly was a special day for us . Thank you to you and everyone at the Frances Foundation for all that you do !!! Mike, Felicia , Gia and Rylie

THANK YOU FROM WARRIOR MATTHEW'S GRANDMOM:

Hi! I attended the event yesterday with my daughter, Kelly , and my grandson, Matthew.

I wanted to thank you in person yesterday, but you were speaking to others.

Matthew had a FABULOUS time, and we did too, just knowing that he was enjoying himself so much.

I receive all your emails, and I am impressed by all you accomplish for kids with cancer. It is a great deal of work, and we are most appreciative.

Thank you SO MUCH! Patricia B.

THANK YOU FROM WARRIOR TJ'S MOM:

Good morning Bob. Tj & I wanted to take a moment to say thank you so very much to The Frances Foundation and Chafart family for inviting us to yet another fun event at Iplay. I love being able to see TJ laughing and having such a great time with his friends. The kids REALLY enjoyed themselves, and I did too. It is nice to get together with other families and just be able to socialize and watch all the kids have so much fun. I hope I am not too late sending you the pictures from that day. Thank you so very much again for all that you do for all our families, it is truly a blessing to belong to such an amazing family like The Frances Foundation

THANK YOU FROM WARRIOR MADISON'S MOM:

Hi Bob,Thank you so much for an amazing time at the IPlay event on Sunday morning. Madison had an absolute blast, and went on the crazy cab ride 10 times! Thanks to our really kind volunteer, Isabel, who rode with her each time. :) Here are a few pictures of her having fun! I wanted to also thank you for always making our kids feel so welcome, included, and able to do anything they set their minds to. We had a recent experience at a local gymnastics place that refused to let Madison into the gym due to her disabilities (because she needed me as a 1:1 to help her navigate through the gym); first time that has ever happened to us, and it was heartbreaking. You always go above and beyond to make sure our kiddos have amazing experiences, and we look forward to seeing you and the other Frances Foundation Families at your events. Thanks again, for everything.

Hoops Outing & "be like Jake" @ Headliner's Event

Busy weekend---lots of smiles and tearful and joyful memories.

Yesterday afternoon  16 Frances Foundation pediatric cancer families attended the exciting Annual Villanova Lacrosse/Frances Foundation  Hoops outing at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly.

Many of our angels’ and warriors’ families enjoyed the food, beverages and a great college basketball game with the Villanova Wildcats defeating the UConn Huskies.  Thank you to trustees Rocky, Teddy, John R, Libby, Chris , Vanessa, & Angela for joining me at this event. The highlight of the day was Villanova University President Father Peter Donahue giving special blessings to our warriors Will and Joey.  See attached photo.

Last night “be like jake “ had an awesome event at Headliner celebrating the beautiful life and legacy of our angel Jake The Tank.

It was inspiring to see a huge crowd there, including many FF trustees. I was too exhausted from Philly to hang in there but at around 9 pm a Bermuda  cruise was granted to a deserving pediatric cancer family.

Outstanding efforts and work by “be like jake” !!

Hugs, Bob

Asking Melissa to post flyer on our FF Facebook page.

Thanks Bob

Frances Foundation UPDATE: Exciting News (Part 3)

WARRIOR BRODY: a parent's story....

Brody was diagnosed with AML Leukemia, at 2 years old. He had a lot of bruising, more than the normal toddler. He started at RWJ, until we learned his cancer was rare. After a week, we transferred to CHOP. He received 3 rounds of chemotherapy, which was inpatient, spending 4 weeks there at a time, one week home. He then received a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor on November 3, 2018, 10/10 match, spending 6 long weeks inpatient. We then had to move within an hour of CHOP for 4-6 months, is what we were told. He did WONDERFUL!! Until approaching his One Year in Remission date... we learned of his low platelets which raised concern with his Oncologist. It was our first visit back with her, away from the Transplant Team. Brody had relapsed. Looking back, we learned on August 2, 2018 he was in remission. On August 2, 2019, we were told his cancer was back. We completed one round outpatient, but that chemotherapy increased his Leukemia from 3%-33%, meaning did not work. We then completed two more inpatient rounds, finding out on 12/12/19, he hit remission again! (Picture below when we found out)

He is currently inpatient for another long stay, since receiving his 2nd transplant on January 8, 2020. After we are discharged, we are required to stay within an hour of CHOP, yet again. He will have a bone marrow biopsy every 4 weeks, along with many clinic visits, probably 2x/week to get transfusions.

Overall, he’s kicking butt, fingers crossed.

Hugs, Bob & The FF .

Ho HO Ho
By the time the attached photo of Santa's helpers was taken about 6:30 pm tonight , about 10 to  15 of our helpers including Bryce, Rachel, Brynne, Sara, and the HS Boys had already completed their volunteer duties and were headed back to the north pole.
We had a fantastic turnout of about 35 volunteers tonight who did a wonderful job getting our party snowland rooms ready , under the guidance of our HOLIDAY  PARTY CHAIR MELISSA MARTHA STEWART HEUGLE !!

In the 2nd attached photo , Santa's  elves put more than 400 gifts by our Holiday trees with elf Cori bringing more tomorrow.

I ask our FF volunteers to remind all of the children tomorrow of the 5 arts & crafts stations , and 3 face painters, in the back of the main room, as well as the photo booth in the far front  corner of the main room.

With total guests & volunteers approaching 400 , we are looking forward to bringing the best of smiles & laughter to all of the children and their families at tomorrow's party.

Giving Tuesday & Happy Holidays

Dear Friends,

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Since our October gala, in a little more than a month, The Frances Foundation For Kids Fighting Cancer has compassionately assisted numerous pediatric cancer families with mortgage & rent payments, payments for utility and uninsured medical bills, sponsored a warrior’s special birthday party, help pay an angel’s funeral bill,  gifted a trip to Disney,  and served delicious food and distributed gifts and smiles to pediatric patients and their families in area hospitals on Thanksgiving. We are now making our final arrangements for our annual Children’s’ Holiday Party on December 15th where more than 200 children will be thrilled by our FF Santa and an awesome fun-filled party bringing plentiful holiday cheer.

In 2019, our FF family lost 5 precious children, Kayla, Jordy, Kenan, Carly, and Luca. These angels bring indescribable inspiration to us; and because of your financial support, we were able to provide priceless and memorable smiles to these angels and their families, as well as countless smiles and comforting assistance to more than 100 pediatric cancer warriors and their families ( 63 families at our gala alone) . Attached is a touching photo of the newest members of our FF family, 4 y/o pediatric cancer warrior Oliver and his little brother Phoenix.

We acknowledge and appreciate your generous financial support that sustains our mission. On this Tuesday, our nation celebrates the great American tradition of charitable giving . “Giving Tuesday “ is recognized as a special day to do good. If you partake in this tradition, we respectfully ask you and your company/employer to consider a donation to the FF. Similarly, please kindly consider us if you are planning to make a year-end tax-deductible charitable donation. If you would like to make a donation on Giving Tuesday or before the end of the year, go to our website www.francesfoundation.net and on the home page simply click the yellow donate tab or mail a check to

The Frances Foundation, 8 Bryce Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733.

Our tax id # is 76-0763611; and every penny donated goes to our kids fighting cancer and their families as our trustees cover our admin expenses.

Life isn’t about what we do; it is about what we do for others.  Thank you for your genuine care and support of our kids fighting cancer.

Wishing you and your families Happy Holidays !!

Warm Regards, Bob & The FF

ANGEL LUCA BRINGING SMILES TO PEDIATRIC CANCER WARRIORS

Just 10 days ago our 10 y/o warrior Luca from Middletown, Frank & Michele’s only child, earned his angel’s wings.

Just as I begin to write this,  my eyes water-up with tears and I get emotionally choked-up ----and I never met your ( and our ) hero Luca. I was emotionally moved at the opening ceremony at St. John Vianney on Sunday. I loved hearing how well liked Luca was and how much he enjoyed playing football, and all sports.

It was my pleasure and a privilege to briefly meet you when I took the attached photo at the field. I couldn’t be happier when I saw Michele score a touchdown. There are no words for your indescribable and unbearable loss. I write this for the sole purpose of hopefully bringing you just an ounce of comfort as you deal with your loss.

Every day, and especially on holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, our Frances Foundation hearts are touched, enriched and inspired by our Angels. Today, tomorrow, Christmas day, every day,  your Angel Luca will inspire us to continue our mission to compassionately bring smiles and assistance to our pediatric cancer warriors and their families.

Angel Luca and you are part of our Frances Family. On Thanksgiving, the Frances Foundation will be giving thanks for the honor and privilege of receiving your son’s inspirations. Those inspirations translate into countless beautiful smiles by our young children fighting cancer.

Frances Foundation Gala - Press Release 2019

The Frances Foundation for Kids Fighting Cancer held its 15th annual gala, Bow Ties and Pearls, on October 19th at the Ocean Place in Long Branch.  Over 1,000 guests and volunteers enjoyed a magical evening.  All were inspired by the strength and grace exhibited by the 62 pediatric cancer families in attendance and deeply moved by the warm remembrance of the angels, the children lost to cancer.

The evening began with an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, silent auction and gift basket raffles while Phil Bruschi Sings Sinatra entertained.  Following the cocktail hour, guests entered the dining ballroom to music by The D’Amico Entertainment Singers.

The awards ceremony began with the presentation of the 2019 Community Service Award to the Joe Namath Foundation, and its co-founders Mike and Debbie Kogan, which included a heartfelt video message from Jets Super Bowl QB Joe Namath. Next, Jen Scarpa and Christina Alexsandrowski received the Volunteers of the Year Award for their work with The Frances Foundation’s Love Life event. And, lastly, Kelly Terry, President of the Mya Lin Terry Foundation, recognized The Frances Foundation for enriching the lives of pediatric cancer patients with peace, love and happiness. Bob Heugle, the president and founder of The Frances Foundation, accepted the award on behalf of the many selfless volunteers of the organization who work tirelessly to benefit kids fighting cancer and their families.

Pediatric cancer warrior McKenzy Hupke and warrior mom Susanne McMahon sang a beautiful rendition of “Brave” as the pediatric cancer video, “Truly Brave”, was played. The video is special to The Frances Foundation as it includes two of its angels, Steph Bader and Antonio Santos. Surprising the crowd with his attendance, two-time Super Bowl winner NY Giants Sean Landeta had fun interacting with the guests as many were eager to try on his two huge and sparkling Super Bowl rings.

The gala takes its guests on a roller coaster ride of emotions, filled with happiness, love and compassion.  Its essence shines through when honoring families of the angels as each child is remembered through a display of pictures.  This emotional highlight of the night continues with the introduction of the warriors, the kids fighting cancer. This unique moment creates an indescribable experience for every guest. As each warrior is announced, they walk or dance to the stage to a song of their choosing and deliver a one-word message.  A special gift is then presented as smiles and joyful tears abound throughout the room. This is The Frances Foundation at its best, creating a place of comfort and love for all.
